Sharlena = Senior 2011

 

Here's a truth: Sharlena is the coolest kid in her entire class.

In fact, she's the ONLY kid in her entire class.

She's attends a private school in Pittsburg, and is the only senior enrolled in the school. I imagine her days go pretty well - if I were her I'd have all of the underclassmen carrying my bags and doing my homework. Sharlena doesn't strike me as that kind of kid and I'm sure she goes by-the-book and earns all of her good grades.

Sharlena is an awesome girl and we had a blast photographing her. I had a terrible time editing this session...there were way too many great shots to look through! I can't wait for her to see the rest at the studio this week. We'll see you then Sharlena!

Bethany + Dusty = Engaged

 There are only a few people in this world that I would drive all the way to Manhattan, Kansas for. After all, it's nearly an 8 hour round trip! Any member of the Willard family would fall in that small group, however, and that is exactly what Kris and I did last Friday when we visited Dusty and Bethany in their native Wildcat Territory. 

We had a great time shooting with these two. Bethany is extremely sweet and smiled the entire session and Dusty is the kind of guy you start to like immediately after meeting him.

Everything was going according to plan until we arrived at the K-State Football Field. One of the big gates was open and we walked right in to begin shooting around the field. Dusty used to work for the team and knew his way around pretty well and they've got season tickets so we definitely had to get some images of them together on the field. About 5 minutes into the shoot a small and excited college girl came screaming down the field in her golf cart and official-looking vest that had 'Security' printed across the front. I'm not exactly sure what she would do in the event that a real security breach had occurred unless she had a taser hidden away in her pocket but she was on a mission to make sure we weren't shooting on the field without official permission and demanded to see my permit. I kind of smiled and explained I didn't have a permit nor was I aware I even needed one. That's when Dusty leaned in and confidently informed her that he worked for the football team. He probably could have told her he was Bill Snyder himself and she wouldn't have known the difference. She shrugged it off with a simple "ok" and sped off on her golf cart to serve and protect the campus. 

We thought we had gotten off easy until we realized she locked the only gate leading out of the stadium. I guess that was some kind of passive aggressive move to teach us a lesson, but after a quick inspection Dusty found an exit through the football offices and we were on our way again.

Aside from that small drama everything was perfect. Kristina even got to enjoy a milk shake from Cold Stone in Aggieville before we went home so even she was happy.

Brody = 2 Months

This handsome little guy belongs to Natalie and Ryan. They are past wedding clients and are also great friends. It's awesome that they made the trip from Louisiana to see their Kansan friends and family. All of us at the studio were anxious to meet Brody and we were lucky to get a chance to photograph him. I'm just hoping it will be one of many trips because this little guy sure is a cutie!

Brody was a little fussy at the beginning of his session but once he had his tummy full and realized it was game time, he was good to go.

Thanks for bringing Brody back to meet everyone! We are looking forward to the next visit, but until then be sure to post plenty of pictures to Facebook.

Closed for Mike and Annie's Wedding!

We will be closed until Tuesday, September 21 for Mike and Annie's wedding! The whole FX Crew will be headed to Wichita on Thursday for the rehearsal for the big day on Friday! We'll be posting pictures throughout the day to keep you posted. Wish us luck! We can't wait to tell you all about it...
 

Haley = Senior 2011

Haley is another one of our Wichita-area seniors. We had the chance to work with her and her mom around the downtown area a few weeks ago. It was a beautiful evening with two beautiful ladies that made for a relaxed and fun session.

Haley described herself as pretty shy during her phone consult with Annie prior to the session. I didn't pick up on any of that during the session - she was all smiles and really rocked her session. She had some great outfits and went smoothly between a perfect smile and the serious model look. Can you imagine a better model for a session??

We also had a chance to feature her amazing car in a portion of the session. Her mom had spent the day before the shoot making it absolutely spotless. I don't think I've seen a cleaner vehicle! Her extra work was worth it and it really shined in the pictures.

Morgan W = Senior 2011

Morgan is our first senior from St. Paul from the Class of 2011. If all of the kids are half as cool as she is, I could work with any of them! Her sister Jill referred her to us after she had her daughter photographed for a Happy Hour Session several weeks ago. It's always great to see familiar faces in the studio, and it definitely made for a fun and relaxed session.

We started the session in the St. Paul High School Gym where I'm guessing Morgan is going to dominate come this season. She was just shooting around while we were setting up the lights and I don't think she missed a shot from behind the 3 pt line the entire time she was shooting. She wouldn't give me a straight answer with her modesty not allowing it, but I'm guessing she's pretty much a stud in the gym.

We spent the rest of the session outdoors exploring the beauty of neighboring Erie, Kansas. The weather was perfect aside from a little wind and I think everyone had a great time.

Morgan S = Senior 2011

Morgan joined us all the way from Baxter Springs for her senior session a couple of weeks ago. It was definitely a family event with her parents and sister along for the ride. A lot of times I can get a little nervous with a lot of people watching us work during a session, and I can worry even more about the seniors being embarrassed. Morgan's family, however, was a real asset and helped to keep things moving along through the outfit changes and kept her smiling for the entire session.

My favorite part of the session was during the studio portion when Morgan requested a volleyball photo in her uniform. Her dad thought to bring an entire sack of volleyballs to use in the photo and my immediate idea was to get the whole crew in on the action, standing on ladders and dropping the volleyballs from the air all around Morgan. It took a few tries, but we nailed an image I really loved. We're never afraid to make a little mess - and the results are usually worth it.

Thank you Morgan and family for making the trip to see us for your senior pictures. We can't wait to see you for your session this fall!

Trisha and Trevor = Married

 

Trisha and Trevor joined us in the studio last week to see the images from their recent wedding in Erie, Kansas. Trisha made for a beautiful bride and Trevor looked all-business in his tuxedo. It was a hot but beautiful day - hopefully the last of the 90 degree weddings of the year. It's beginning to feel a lot like fall, and as far as I'm concerned it can't get here any faster!

Megan = Senior 2011

Megan's senior session co-starred her beautiful chocolate lab, Ruger. We started the day shooting around the Parsons area and then went out to the country where we met up with Ruger. If only we could get all our clients to respond as well to Cheetos as he did. Once Ruger caught sight of those Cheetos he was all about the photo shoot. Immediately Megan's face lit up when she saw him and we all did too.  He's a ball of energy and we really enjoyed adding him to the session. 

After a few shots with Ruger it was getting really dark, but the FX crew does not stop the session until we have what we came for, light or no light... Using a flash light to provide a focus point, and the rest of the crew holding lights and whatever else, we got some shots of M  egan in her gorgeous prom dress, even though it was extremely dark.  It was all a very fun experience and we hope you enjoy her pictures!
