Maggie = Senior 2011

This post my make you pause and think that you've seen this lovely young lady before. Don't be confused - you have seen this pretty face before. It was just her twin sister's session from a couple of months ago.

I will tell you this: I love the Sloan Family. 

These are two of the most energetic and entertaining girls I have ever had the pleasure of photographing. We've only known them both a short while, but they are so good at making you feel at ease and talk to you like they've known you their entire life. They both definitely get it from their mother - she's been amazing with opening her home to us during Katie's session and has been very generous with her time in meeting with us for 2 session design consults and 2 sales appointments.

Equal parts beauty and intelligence, Maggie is an amazing athlete as well! We wound up with some of my favorite sports shots of the year during our visit to the softball field and she also marks the first female golfer I've ever photographed.

Thank you Maggie for choosing us for your senior pictures. We hope you had half as much fun as we did. Good luck the rest of your senior year!

Tina + Nic = Married

Any time I get to ride through a city SWAT-Style on the side of my Suburban is a good day to me. Thankfully, Tina and Nic's wedding gave me just that opportunity in Independence a couple of weeks ago during their awesome wedding. As you can see from the image above, they had several members in their wedding party. So many so that when they all tried to pile into the same limo to go around town for their pictures the weight alarm started screaming and we had to unload them from the limo and into our suburban to transport them around town. 

Naturally after we got the required number of groomsmen out of the limo there was no longer any room for me. Rather than waste any more time playing Musical Chairs I just hoped on the running board and let Kristina drive like a madman through the city until we got to our first spot. Everything was business as usual after that with a beautiful bride and a handsome groom. Thank you guys for letting us be a part of your wedding!

Angela + Wes = Married

Angela and Wess had an amazing wedding just a couple of short weeks ago in Pittsburg. I'm going to be catching some major grief that their wedding beat mine to my own blog. I'm sure Annie will be tapping me on the shoulder any minute wondering how something like this could even happen. That just shows the dedication I've got to our clients!

We're switching to abbreviated blog posts for the rest of the evening so I can get some of these posted for the world to see. These 20 hour days are starting to make me see things! Thank you guys for choosing us for your wedding. We're looking forward to hanging out with you guys again soon.

Kirstin = Senior 2011

I don't have my notes in front of me, but I'm pretty sure Kirstin is our very first senior from Iola High School. If she's a good sample of what that school has to offer, we sure hope to see more of her friends soon! She was just awesome to work with throughout the entire process. We loved her the moment she walked in the door, had amazing personality in front of the camera, and was sooo easy to photograph. We had a blast during her session!

The biggest hurdle we had during the session was figuring out how to incorporate the three sports jerseys she had with her. We had some extra fishing line lying around the studio and used it to hang jerseys from the ceiling to form a cool backdrop for some of her studio shots. She was patient as we fumbled with the nearly invisible fishing line to get everything hanging just right.

Jessica = Sweet Sixteen

We met Jessica at her uncle's farm east of Girard a couple of weeks ago for her Sweet Sixteen Session. I was so nervous for my first session like this years ago. I'd never heard of girls having their photos taken around their 16th birthday before, but after having photographed several of them over the years it's become one of my favorite sessions to shoot. It's really amazing how much the girls change between the time we photograph them at 16 and when they come back for the senior pictures.

Jessica's uncle had what amounted to a large photography playground for me to run around for an hour. My trusty assistant Roylan was foaming at the mouth since all he could do was hold the light and not shoot some himself.

Jessica had some awesome outfits and some great ideas. It was an excellent way to spend a Sunday Evening. Thank you for choosing us for your photographers this time around - we hope to see you next year!

Cassie + Kody = Married

Ok, so I've been VERY behind in blogging the last week or so. Cassie and Kody are looong overdue for their facetime on the blog and I'm happy to be sharing them with you today!

They had an amazing wedding in Pittsburg a few weeks ago. Cassie could not have been more beautiful and Kody looked pretty snazzy himself. They had a gorgeous ceremony at Our Lady of Lourdes with a classy reception at the Country Club outside of town. The highlight of the evening for me was the time-traveling video from the brother of the groom. He must have spent weeks putting it together, and it had the whole group rolling.

We also had our first group portrait outside of a bar. Turns out the wedding party are regulars at 311 and the day just wouldn't have been complete without a drink at the old watering hole.

Mann = Family

These two little cuties can come visit the studio anytime!

I'm sure you remember them from their recent Happy Hour session. I was so excited to learn that they were coming back so soon to see us. As you can see, Levi is all smiles and Jordyn is more serious. We worked hard, but we're unable get one smile out of Jordyn. These are the first and only twins I have photographed so far and I just love how you can see their personalities shining through already.

The session went well until we were traveling to our last location. Of course, it started raining and we had to cut the session short. Luckily, we had already gotten several great shots.

Kim = Family

Annie and I drove to Webb City to meet up with the Kim family earlier this week. It looked like it was going to rain right before we were supposed to start shooting. Luckily, it only sprinkled a little on the drive over and we were able to get some great photos.

Last time we saw this family was during a Happy Hour session and the girls just were not interested in taking photos. They were all smiles this time. I think it helped that they didn't have to drive as far. Oh, and that their Grandma was there too seemed to help.

Emerson = 3 Years

Emerson visited the studio last week to mark her third birthday. This little girl is a ball of energy and was very fun to photograph. She had Annie and I laughing the entire session.

Her mom, Stacy, said she is 3 going on 30. It was very evident during the session. Whenever her parents would get close to watch what was going on she pointed for them to leave from her sight. Too cute!
