The FX Crew headed north recently to meet up with Thorsten and Aubrey for their engagement session in Lawrence. We were returning to their old stomping grounds and visited two pretty unique places during their session where they fell in love.
The first spot was a cool little pond on the far side of the KU Campus where they used to spend their evenings. The funny part is that it's not just some scenic spot where young lovers spend their evenings - it's actually the University Research Pond where biology classes spend their time studying who-knows-what. We joked during the session that it's probably where they keep Aquaman locked up for further study...
The second location brought us to one of the librarys on campus that any alumni of KU would know as The Stacks. It's floor after floor and row after row of old books that would make the perfect setting for a movie. It must be some kind of Jayhawk tradition to get caught making out in The Stacks instead of during your homework, and it didn't take much prompting to get Aubrey and Thorsten to put on a show for the camera. These were definitely my favorite images from the session.

The fury of blogging continues! Next up we have the long-overdue Jason and Shannon. We had the chance to meet up with them a few weeks ago around downtown Kansas City. Jason is a SE Kansas native that has been doing well in the big city for a long time now. He's got a really cool job in commodities trading that takes him on the road quite a bit. We're really looking forward to their wedding next May, and I hope that these pictures can hold them over until then.

We had the opportunity to photography the lovely Emily in Parsons a few weeks ago. It was your standard 'got a beautiful girl and a camera' session where we just drove her around town and asked her to stand by walls. She pretty much did all the work and I just pressed buttons on the camera. Her mom was along on the ride and between the two of them we had an awesome time.
Thank you guys for thinking of us for your session. We can't wait to see you guys again soon!

Up to just a couple of weeks ago I wasn't certain there was much more to Cherryvale, Kansas outside of a handy gas station and a Sonic Drive-in that we always stop by on our way to and from Independence. It turns out there's a lot more to it!
Karly is our first senior from Cherryvale High School and we love her! We drove over to meet her for her senior session a couple of weeks ago and got the full tour of everything the town has to offer. We had a great time spending the evening with her and made off with some great images to top things off. She's already sent some of her friends our way, and we couldn't be more thankful for her spreading the word. She's a wonderful girl, and we can't wait to share the rest of the images with her soon.

It's been a long time coming, but after battling rescheduling the wedding and waiting for good weather we've finally had the chance to photograph Mindy and Derek's engagement session!
I kinda promised not to - but I couldn't resist making the image above the featured photo for this post. It turns out Derek loves Mindy SO MUCH, he had a shirt made to share it with the world. It's too bad Mindy doesn't have a matching 'I love Derek' shirt, but I think we all know that the feelings are mutual. After all, who could pull off such a great looking shirt as well as Derek??
We had an absolute blast working with them all around Pittsburg. Both of their moms were in hot pursuit providing hair and wardrobe support. I always like to perform under pressure, and there's nothing like having to do your best work in front of the mothers of the bride and groom.
I really love a lot of the images we came away with, but I'm also looking forward to their Motion Video too. They had some great answers to the interview questions that we can't wait to share.
